RELEASE: United States Navy Memorial Welcomes Vice Admiral John B. Mustin, USN (Ret.), to Board of Directors

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The United States Navy Memorial is pleased to announce the appointment of Vice Admiral John B. Mustin, USN (Ret.), former Chief of Navy Reserve and Commander, Navy Reserve Force, to its Board of Directors.

Admiral Mustin retired from the U.S. Navy in 2024 following 34 years of service, culminating as the 15th Chief of Navy Reserve and Commander, Navy Reserve Force, where he led approximately 60,000 Reserve Component Sailors supporting Navy, Marine Corps, and joint force operations around the world. Following his retirement from naval service, Mustin joined Saildrone Inc., where he currently serves as President and leads efforts to expand the company’s defense and intelligence business.

“John understands the sea services from nearly every angle—from operations at sea and the Reserve Force to the technology shaping the future of the maritime domain,” said Vice Admiral John B. Nowell Jr., USN (Ret.), President and CEO of the United States Navy Memorial. “He shares our belief that ensuring that the public understands the importance of their support to our sea services through telling their stories and honoring their service is critical.  He is exactly the right leader to help the Navy Memorial continue to expand our mission to act as a catalyst at the intersection of national leadership, industry, and civic engagement.  I’m grateful to welcome John to our Board and know his perspective will be invaluable to that work.”

The United States Navy Memorial serves as the nation’s living memorial to the men and women of the Sea Services.
