WASHINGTON, D.C. (KFYR) - North Dakota veterans continue to get the celebrity treatment in Washington, D.C.

The more than 100 veterans on the Western North Dakota Honor Flight have been greeted with cheers and thank yous at every stop.

Monday’s stops included the Capitol, the World War II Memorial and the Navy Memorial.

For Navy Veteran David Johnson, this stop was extra special.

He enlisted in the Navy in 1963 and served until 1967.

Johnson said this trip has been unlike anything he ever imagined.

“From the time we got to the airport in Bismarck, and I’m sure until we get to the airport tonight, it’s just an amazing trip. We’ve seen so much, and there’s so much more that could be seen if there was time,” said Navy Veteran David Johnson from Center.

The veterans are scheduled to return to the Bismarck airport at 7 p.m. Monday.
