The rate of Chief Petty Officer (CPO) as we know it today was officially established April 1, 1893. The U.S. Navy Memorial will host a 126th birthday celebration for Navy Chief’s to Honor, Recognize, and Celebrate the fundamental role they play in the United States Navy.
