SITREP Speaker Series Episode 2 Featuring James "Hondo" Geurts

James “Hondo” Geurts, Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development & Acquisition. Secretary Geurts oversees an annual budget of more than $100 billion and is responsible for equipping and supporting the Navy and Marine Corps. He has more than 30 years of joint acquisition experience and has served in all levels of leadership positions, including acquisition executive, program executive officer and program manager of major defense acquisition programs. Following a distinguished Air Force career, Secretary Geurts was the acquisition executive for Special Operations Command at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida. During this one hour live program, Secretary Geurts will discuss how his organization is responding to today’s challenges of delivering and sustaining a lethal force, as well as what is being done to drive innovation. Secretary Geurts, driven to deliver capabilities at the speed of relevance, formed the Navy’s Agility office (NavalX) in Alexandria, VA to centrally facilitate the increased adoption of proven agility-enhancing methods across the Department of the Navy. This effort included the establishment of 12 Naval tech bridge locations that operate in concert with NavalX throughout the United States.
