Lone Sailor statue in PEARL HARBOR, HAWAII

Part of the U.S. Navy Memorial's mission is to educate the public about our nation's great maritime legacy and to remind them that the legacy still lives on through generations of Sea Service men and women today. Our Statue Outreach Program enables us to fulfill that mission by reaching out to communities across America whose ties to the Sea Services remain strong and whose veterans and service members want to recall their commitment to the Sea Services and their service to America.

A Lone Sailor© replica was dedicated on Friday, October 13th, 2017 at the WWII Valor in the Pacific National Monument Visitor Center. The dedication fell on the same date as the Navy's 242nd birthday.

A plaque next to the Lone Sailor reads: “The Base of This Statue Contains Steel from the USS Arizona.”

The statue greets visitors on their way to the USS Arizona Memorial, a resting place for those who lost their lives on December 7th, 1941 at Pearl Harbor.
