Commander William M. Newell, SC, USN (Ret.)

Commander Mike Newell is a 1975 graduate of the University of Minnesota.  He was commissioned as a Surface Warfare Officer from the NROTC Program upon graduation and transferred to the Supply Corps in 1979.  He served on several ships in the Pacific Fleet and at shore establishments throughout the United States.  He retired from the Navy in 1995 after serving as a Professor at National Defense University, Washington, DC.

Following his Navy career, Mike worked in several high level position at General Dynamics Bath Iron Works, The Boeing Company, Lockheed Martin Corporation, and Finmeccanica’s AgustaWestlandBell and OTO Melara, SpA.  He is currently a member of the Secretary of the Navy’s Retiree Council, and also serves of the board of directors of the University of Minnesota Alumni Association – DC Chapter.
