The United States Navy Memorial Foundation (Navy Memorial) respects the privacy of its members and other visitors to its website and online community. The policies outlined here have been developed to ensure your information is used carefully and for our supporters to understand how the Memorial collects and uses your information. This privacy policy is effective immediately upon posting.

 

Information Collection and Use 
The Navy Memorial’s web servers automatically collect non-identifying information from your visits to navymemorial.org to help measure our website activity and improve the user experience. Non-identifying information includes session cookies to track usage through navymemorial.org, and IP addresses for viewing internet domains and monitoring time spent on our website.

The Navy Memorial does not collect any personal information from users browsing its public website. Users to the public areas of the Navy Memorial’s website browse anonymously. Only aggregate data -- such as the number of hits per page -- are collected. Aggregate data is only used for internal and marketing purposes and does not provide any personally identifying information.

 

Your Confidentiality
We reserve the right to share information with trusted third-party vendors that provide contracted services for the Navy Memorial and its membership. Those select vendors have been provided a copy of this policy and are expected to maintain your data according to these standards. We do not sell your information to other organizations or individuals in ways other than those disclosed in this Policy. We may rent our mailing lists for one-time use by other non-profits.

If you are a financial donor to the Navy Memorial, you may request that we withhold your mailing information from any list exchanges with other non-profits. Use of Email Addresses by the Navy Memorial
When you donate to the Navy Memorial, you will be asked to supply your email address. Your email address is only available to the Navy Memorial employees who manage this information for purposes of contacting you or responding to user requests.

We may use your email address to send you information about the Navy Memorial (such as news and events, special programs, and fundraising campaigns).

The Navy memorial complies with the Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography and Marketing (CAN-SPAM) act of 2003. Use of Financial Information by the Navy Memorial
If you choose to make an online donation or purchase merchandise from the Navy Memorial, you will have to provide your credit or debit card billing information, including your card number and expiration date. This information is collected and transferred over the Internet using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption technology to the appropriate clearinghouse. If you are making a donation or purchase from the Navy Memorial, the credit or debit card information that you provide at the time of the donation or purchase is used only to process your donation or purchase, and will not be used or stored by the Navy Memorial for any other purposes. To process recurring sustainer donations, credit or debit card information of other digital payment processing information will be used and stored.

 

Use of IP Addresses
An IP address is a number that's automatically assigned to your computer whenever you're surfing the Web. Web servers automatically identify your computer by its IP address. The Navy Memorial collects IP addresses for the purposes of system administration and to audit the use of our site. When visitors request pages from the Navy Memorial, our servers log the visitors' IP addresses. We do not link IP addresses to anything personally identifiable, which means that a user's session will be logged, but the user remains anonymous to us.

 

Links to Other Sites
The Navy Memorial website includes links to other sites. These sites are beyond our control. These other sites may send their own cookies to users, collect data or solicit personal information.
