The Navy Memorial Veteran Group Visit Program

Welcoming Veterans and Their Families from Active Duty Commands and Veteran Groups Across the Country

The United States Navy Memorial welcomes all Service Members, Veterans, and their families. We are pleased to welcome visits from various Veteran Groups as these heroes are the focus of our mission to Honor, Recognize and Celebrate the Men and women of the sea services, past, present and future; and to Inform the public about their service.

The Navy Memorial’s Veteran Group Visit Program tailors each visit to meet the unique needs of that group. Featuring a beautiful “Granite Sea” with the Lone Sailor in the middle and surrounded by 26 bas reliefs depicting various elements of the sea services, an outdoor visit is extremely welcoming and a great spot for photos. Additionally, the air-conditioned Visitor Center has interesting exhibits, including the National Chief’s Mess, a Ship’s Store, and bathrooms.

Thank You for Choosing the Navy Memorial for Your Veteran Group Visit

Veteran Groups coming to the Navy Memorial are met with heartfelt gratitude. Volunteers and staff are always ready to assist and provide Veterans with a dynamic visitor experience.

It is our pleasure to extend an open invitation to Veterans and Veteran Groups like the Honor Flight Network from hubs across the country to visit us whenever they are in the Nation’s Capital.

Depending on the amount of time you have to spend at the Navy Memorial, there are numerous options for your visit. Please contact the Navy Memorial to confirm the availability of the following:

Option #1

If your time is limited, a walk around the “Granite Sea,” looking at the 26 bas-relief sculptures, and taking photos with the “Lone Sailor Statue”, makes for a great experience.

Option #2

If time permits, Veteran Groups are invited to come inside to the airconditioned Visitors Center to see the exhibits, including the National Chief’s Mess, and visit the Ship’s Store.

Option #3

The President and CEO would be honored to greet the group and convey our tremendous appreciation for their service.

Option #4

With more time, the Navy Memorial can request a performance by the Navy’s Ceremonial Guard Silent Drill Team on the “Granite Sea.”

Option #5

The best opportunity, allowing us to set up tables in the Visitor Center for the group to have a private luncheon. We can assist in arranging box lunches at the group’s expense and there is no additional cost.
