Local News via The Messenger - Cheering groups greet veterans in Washington, Fort Dodge - Army veteran Jack David could hear a loud commotion as he approached a doorway leading into a Washington, D.C., area airport Saturday morning. “I was wondering what all the noise was,” the Humboldt man said. David and the rest of the nearly 150 veterans on the Brushy Creek Area Honor Flight quickly found out just what all that noise was about.

Navy Memorial to Celebrate Reopening with Blessing of the Fleet Ceremony and Ribbon Cutting

The United States Navy Memorial will host its annual Blessing of the Fleet ceremony on Saturday, April 9th at 1:00 pm Eastern (ET) on Navy Memorial Plaza. A ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the beginning of “Navy Memorial 2.0” and the reopening of the Navy Memorial Visitor Center, along with a reception featuring Navy Bean Soup from the White House Mess, will follow. This Blessing of the Fleet will also be streamed online for those who wish to watch the ceremony from home.

U.S Navy Memorial and Greenbrier Village Celebrate Navy Veteran Rex Campbell's 99th Birthday with a Patriotic Flair

Rex Campbell, a World War II Navy veteran and 2012 Navy Legacy Veteran of the Year recipient and longtime Greenbrier Village resident, celebrated his 99th birthday with family, friends, and a number of special guests at a patriotic birthday event hosted by the U.S. Navy, Memorial, Greenbrier Village and the Woodring Wall of Honor and Veterans Park, Inc. The event will took place at The Homes of Greenbrier in Oklahoma, on Thursday, June 17th at 1:30 p.m.

The event included a parade of first responders, the National Anthem, a special musical salute, and several presentations and proclamations special guests and dignitaries. Watch the video below to see a celebration of Rex’s amazing deeds and life below:
