David and the rest of the nearly 150 veterans on the Brushy Creek Area Honor Flight quickly found out just what all that noise was about.

Navy Memorial Celebrates a Successful Blessing of the Fleet Ceremony and Reopening
The United States Navy Memorial hosted its 31st Blessing of the Fleet ceremony on Saturday, April 9th in Washington, D.C. following the National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade. This ceremony was free and open to the public, marking the Navy Memorial’s first major event coming out of the pandemic. Over 1,100 people witnessed the ceremony in person or at home via live stream.

Navy Memorial to Celebrate Reopening with Blessing of the Fleet Ceremony and Ribbon Cutting
The United States Navy Memorial will host its annual Blessing of the Fleet ceremony on Saturday, April 9th at 1:00 pm Eastern (ET) on Navy Memorial Plaza. A ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the beginning of “Navy Memorial 2.0” and the reopening of the Navy Memorial Visitor Center, along with a reception featuring Navy Bean Soup from the White House Mess, will follow. Rex Campbell, a World War II Navy veteran and 2012 Navy Legacy Veteran of the Year recipient and longtime Greenbrier Village resident, celebrated his 99th birthday with family, friends, and a number of special guests at a patriotic birthday event hosted by the U.S. Navy, Memorial, Greenbrier Village and the Woodring Wall of Honor and Veterans Park, Inc. The event will took place at The Homes of Greenbrier in Oklahoma, on Thursday, June 17th at 1:30 p.m.
