A man of countless accomplishments, Dr. London served in the Navy on active duty for 12 years, being the commanding officer on missions involved in the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Soviet Union’s nuclear submarine threat.

The United States Navy Memorial will honor General Jim Mattis, USMC (Ret.), and renowned American singer-songwriter and musician, Bill Withers as the 2020 Lone Sailor Award recipients. With his unfortunate passing in March of this year, Bill’s widow Marcia will accept the award on behalf of Bill Withers.
