Merchant Marine Birthday

The Navy Memorial hosted a public wreathlaying ceremony to honor the 232nd birthday of the U.S. Merchant Marine, and all who have served and continue to serve their country in this historic branch of the armed services.

Remarks on the Merchant Marine's past and present contributions to American liberty were delivered by Shannon Russell, the U.S. Maritime Association's Director of the Office of Congressional and Public Affairs. Click here to read her brief speech.
