The fountains at the United States Navy Memorial have been drained for repairs. This is the first major repair of the fountains since the dedication of the memorial in 1987.
The seals around the strainer baskets have weakened, causing leaks.
The fountains will remain drained until the late summer. During that time, the National Park Service will replace the
impellers and seals and the pool bottoms will be recaulked and repainted.
