The U.S. Navy Memorial
United States Navy Memorial includes both a commemorative public Memorial Plaza and a Naval Heritage Center.
The Memorial Plaza is a round ceremonial amphitheater paved in granite to form a 100-foot diameter of the world. Surrounding the deck of the plaza are fountains, pools, flagpole masts, and sculptural panels depicting historic achievements of the sea services. A symbolic statue of a Lone Sailor stands watch near the edge of the plaza
The Naval Heritage Center offers three major space configurations or combinations thereof, all located in the prestigious Market Square complex in the heart of the bustling Penn Quarter neighborhood of Washington, D.C.
Convenient Location
Served by Washington's Metro system, the Navy Memorial is accessible via the yellow/green lines at the Archives/Navy Memorial/Penn Quarter station. The Memorial is convenient to the Capitol, the White House, Federal Triangle, and the Mall—not to mention numerous museums, monuments, and galleries. The Washington Convention Center is only minutes away.
Events
The United States Navy Memorial annually hosts a series of activities, programs and events designed to appeal to our Sea Service veterans, active duty sailors and their families, and Washington, D.C. visitors who want to learn about our nation's rich maritime heritage.
