We Want To Sponsor a New Plaque

Sponsor a New Plaque Form - pdf
The process of sponsoring a new plaque starts when we receive the initial $500 deposit, which secures a spot on the wall and the services of our graphic designer, who will work with the sponsors to design the plaque.
Each plaque is an archival Silvaloy plate measuring seven by three and three-quarter inches and can include pictures, text, group insignias, logos, and other graphical elements. When the design is approved, the plaque sponsors are given a picture of the plaque on CD-ROM and can use the image to create coffee cups, fabric patches, baseball caps, or other items using the picture.
Sponsorship of a Commemorative Plaque requires a total donation of $3,000. Once the remaining balance on the plaque is paid and a spot on the wall is chosen, the plaque will be mounted on the wall and on our website for all to see.
Each sponsor is also entitled to a dedication ceremony in our theater. During the ceremony, a member of the Memorial's leadership team will give a speech honoring the sponsors of the plaque, in addition to any other speakers from the sponsoring group. Often, Plaque Dedications are done in conjunction with a scheduled reunion in the greater Washington D.C. area.
These events are frequently very meaningful to all of the participants including the staff at the US Navy Memorial. The USS Canisteo AO-99 Reunion Association had the opportunity to meet RADM Ted Walker, USN (Ret.) for their dedication ceremony held Saturday, September 1, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. RADM Ted Walker’s father served as CAPT of the USS Canisteo AO-99 during the Antarctic operation High Jump 1946-1947. Admiral Walker led the ceremony with opening and closing remarks and presented a plaque replica to Mr. Geddis Kerr of Oakton, VA and the Association. This was one of the special dedication ceremonies that the US Navy Memorial gives daily in our efforts to preserve the memories of Sea Veterans of the past, present and future.
Once the process is complete, exact replicas of the plaque, mounted on a handsome wood backing suitable for display or hanging, are available and can be ordered using the plaque replica order form.
A Commemorative Plaque is a wonderful way to honor the men and women of the United States Sea Services - past, present and future.
