Online tool helps preserve and honor rich history of Naval service
Washington, D.C. – The United States Navy Memorial today announced the launch of the Navy Memorial ConnectionPlus Toolbar, offering supporters of our men and women in uniform and the Memorial an easy, no cost way to contribute to the organization while shopping online.
“Our supporters are always looking for new and creative ways to help us pay tribute to our Naval forces,” said Vice Admiral John Totushek, CEO of the United States Navy Memorial Foundation. “This toolbar provides a simple yet powerful way for anyone, regardless of their means, to help us honor the service of generations of brave seamen.”
The Navy Memorial ConnectionPlus Toolbar can be downloaded at http://navymemorial.connectionplus.org/. When an individual shops at the site of a participating retailer, a percentage of the purchase price will be contributed to the Navy Memorial. More than 700 online retailers currently participate in the program.
The ConnectionPlus toolbar program will provide critical funds to maintain the Navy Memorial and Naval Heritage Center, and support events and activities that honor the men and women of the United States Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine.
“We cannot forget the thousands serving our nation at sea, protecting our everyday freedoms,” Totushek said. “We hope this toolbar helps us serve them by allowing us to maintain the memorial and share the rich history of the Naval branch.”
The Navy Memorial was dedicated in 1977 to commemorate the traditions, heritage and service of the U.S. Navy. Today, the organization oversees preservation of the memorial and its adjacent Naval Heritage Center, as well as a wide array of programming for Naval veterans, their families and the general public.
“When honoring those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, there is always more that can be done,” Totushek said. “We are excited to provide another way for citizens to exercise their support of the Navy in the past, present and future.”
