Part of the Navy Memorial’s “Authors on Deck” Series of Navy-related Book Lectures.  Robert C. Knudsen will present his book, A Living Treasure: Seasonal Photographs of Arlington National Cemetery, followed by Q&A and book signing.

Walking through Arlington National Cemetery is an experience like no other.  A quiet sense of respect persists, and the beauty overwhelms.  It is the final resting place for thousands of our nation’s war heroes, with more added every day in poignant and moving ceremonies.  Photographer Robert C. Knudsen captures this sense and the essence of Arlington National Cemetery and its ceremonies with more than 300 full-color photographs showcasing each branch of the military, and the cemetery itself as it looks at each season.

Included with the numerous photographs are sidebars explaining the various ceremonies and the roles that the members of each branch of service play.  Knudsen demonstrates his mastery of the camera and his experience with the cemetery as he highlights the celebration of life that Arlington represents.

ROBERT C. KNUDSEN is a professional photographer with tens of thousands of images of Arlington National Cemetery taken over four thousand hours of work.  Among his other work, he has done photography for every branch of the military, both houses of Congress and every president since Lyndon Johnson.  He lives in Fairfax Station, Virginia, with his wife, Andrea, and two children, Dustin and Nicoll.
